Pastoral care is of the highest prioritiy at HVUC especially during the Covid-19 crisis.
While the Pastoral Care Team Care (PCT) is the primary focus, other groups in the church such as the United Church Women, Daytimers (Seniors) and the Chancel Choir, provide a lot of pastoral care amongst their members. Overall, HVUC prides itself on being a very caring congregation.
Supportive councilling and emergency pastoral care are provided by our minister. Lay pastoral care work is also carried out by a team of dedicated volunteers who pay regular visits to our shut-ins and those confined to seniors' residences or hospital.

Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by Stephen Leaders to offer high-quality, one-to-one Christian care to people going through tough times. A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour. Twice a month, Stephen Ministers gather with their Stephen Leaders for supervision and continuing education.
